LE Cross

First of all a big thank you to everyone who commented on my difficulties selecting the fabrics for LE. What I have discovered is that I am not alone. I think that with such a special quilt many of us are just wanting to make sure we are happy with the result. I am picturing the spirit of the original maker guiding me along, clearly she wants me to do her quilt justice! Ok, I know that sounds crazy but something about this quilt and its story has really grabbed me in a bit of a crazy way. ;)

Anyway, I have completed one of the cross sections, as I am calling it, and here is the result.

I like it up close but sadly the details of those dots get lost from a distance. But they are staying. They will just be one of those surprise details that you notice when you look up close. And here it is with the details of the compass and one of the heart circles.

Looking forward to Part 4!

Your fabrics are looking wonderful with the applique! I think you will really enjoy the little close up surprises later on.:)

Absolutely beautiful, Heather. I am sure the maker of the original quilt would be proud of you. And I love those surprises that one can find when looking close-up at antique quilts - so you are following that tradition. It is such a joy to follow your progress.

Your LE quilt is going to be so beautiful and your work looks great. Enjoy following your progress and anxious to see what you do next.
I haven't started mine as I also struggled with fabric choices. I have looked at quilts and fabrics from that era and I'm leaning towards the browns, tans & blues and maybe rosey pinks. I'm finishing up few other projects before I start.

I can imagine the difficulties with fabric choice here - and you don't want regrets half way through. You are doing such a lovely job of it!

Dear Heather, Just lovely. I think my angst about fabric choice comes from not quite knowing where this quilt is going. That is also the joy of it. So beautiful to use the Dutch chintz as inspiration. Joyce in Princeton
