I see it has been over a month since I posted about our house sale and move. It has been a very busy 6 weeks but we are finally into our new home. We are excited to be just 5 minutes from the grandchildren and are happy with our decision to downsize into a "forever" home. If you have been following my blog for awhile you might remember that we have moved several times over the last few years and after this one I truly pray that I never have to do this again. If you have ever downsized, you know it is pretty tricky deciding what to let go of, what to keep and how to fit it all in. We are fortunate to have a basement to put the overflow in right now but hopefully the basement will be finished in the next year into a great sewing studio. In the meantime I am dealing with this mess.
This is an upstairs bonus room with an additional weird finished closet like area.
Right now DH is starting the huge job of shifting things around to make some sense of it all and because of my back I can only give directions. So it looks like a few more weeks until I will be back into sewing mode. We have only been here just over 2 weeks and the main floor is coming together. DH has already painted both the diningroom and kitchen and hung pictures etc. our boxes were not well marked by the movers so we still have lots of things to find but it is so nice to make things feel like home again.
I can't wait to get stitching again but almost dread sorting through the boxes as I unpack. Let's just say the movers were not careful - they forgot to shrink wrap some of those wire basket units and tipped one into a flower bed. And that was the one with all my LE fabrics! I could go on and on with moving horror stories but I think it is time to focus on the positive and get my sewing room in order!
Happy Stitching!

looks like you will need some time to settle in - you do have a lot of quilting supplies there don't you :)
LOVE your new home so far! Good luck with getting it all sorted out!
I hope you take it easy as you are unpacking and sorting. I have only moved 3 times in my life and that's it. You must have it down pat by now.
Oooohhhh! I love your new house!! Beautiful!!!
I see lots more work. But at least you have moved and your new house looks beautiful and I'm sure you'll be very happy there, once you have unpacked and sorted out everything. Good luck!
Oh no! I'm sorry the move wasn't great, but your house sure looks beautiful! Hopefully you'll be up and running in no time!
Your dining room is such a gorgeous color!! Your quilts will look lovely in your new home. Good luck with getting settled and organized :0)
I am so pleased the move is over for you and now you can begin to settle. Your home looks beautiful! Good luck with the unpacking!
Glad to hear you're getting settled in. Have fun setting up the sewing room.
Congratulations on your new home it is Gorgeous ! Your plans for your sewing room sound wonderful .
Moving is SO not fun but your new home looks charming. Love the blue in the dining room. We did not move but did downsize and got rid of tons of things a couple years back. We were inspired after moving my parent into assisted living. Down sizing and letting those things go was actually freeing in a way and made life simpler.
That is a fun shaped sewing space. I know it must be frustrating to not be able to move like you used too--but hopefully you will get things in there organized soon!! Life moves at a different pace than we want sometimes, but it will all fall into place. I hope the grands will be able to visit often. How much fun to have them so close.
Your new sewing space looks like it will be fabulous. Lots of light : ) Think of the treasures you will find when unpacking
Looks like many steps closer to being settled in.
Glad to hear you are almost settled. What a bonus to be that close to the grandkids!
I'll cross my fingers, toes, legs, arms and eyes that this is the last move!
Hoping you soon feel at home! Such a lot of work, but it will be nice to be nearer the grandchildren. We have just put our house on the market. It is the eleventh move for us!
Glad to hear you are in your new home. Looking great so far. Love that paint colour! Lovely that you are near your grandchildren.
Have fun sorting through your sewing supplies. Take it easy with your back.
How funny, I was just thinking I should email you to see how you've been going. It's good to see the move went well and now there's just the sorting out to do. It won't be long till your sewing again. Your new home looks wonderful!
I think I'd rather stay upstairs-it looks like such a great, bright room. Don't make a final decision until you've worked there for a while.
Those other rooms look like showcases! Your DH is doing an awesome job.
Good luck with the new home and have fun with your grandkids!
Hmmm. It seems like you have so much stuff to pick from and sort through. You can deal with all that, I'm sure. Kudos to all your efforts. All the best! :)

Your new home looks lovely--hope the rest of the unpacking goes smoothly! I know it's a huge undertaking!
Your home looks just beautiful Heather! I'm so happy that you are there and getting settled!
Lovely home. I note home dec fabric also. Have you considered having your sewing area in the upstaires bonus room? I see a window that allows for natural light.
your new home looks beautiful! You look pretty settled in. The SR is always the last right? but you'll be settled in and stitching again soon. Hope your back feels better soon
Yippeeee! What a great house! So excited for you that everything worked out. I knew it would. :)
What a beautiful home and the bonus is living next to the grandkids...
It looks lovely already. It takes time to move in properly and find the right places for everything. I am truly envious of your basement.
