Ready to go

Well, the quilt is all prepped for appliqué and ready for my post op stitching. I find it much easier to balance colors and fabric if the blocks are up on my design wall, so I wanted to get this finished in time to put up another project that needs to get put together in the next week. I am very happy to have this finished and what you don't see is that there are another 84 leaf blocks that make up the border. I have 76 of these blocks prepped but I am leaving the last few until I know which greens I still need to balance everything out. I am really feeling the bug to start something in some bright summery colors as I have been working in this more greyed palette for awhile so I am looking at ideas for my next start. I am thinking something pieced and appliqued for my guest room that is a bit wacky and fun. Any great ideas? I have ordered the pattern pictured below and am thinking it may be the one.

  12. So sorry to hear about your knee---the good news is that it will be wonderful when recovery is all done. They do such great work in surgery. My brother had his knee done and walks better than he had for quite awhile. He was in more pain with the bad knee than the recovery part. When my son had his shoulder done--the best advice the nurse gave us, was to keep ahead of the pain when the pain meds. It really does help. Love your applique--have been working on quilts for other people & need to get to an applique project for me!!! Sew in the meantime, I drop by here and you always make my day!! Thanks

  15. Words can't describe how lovely all those birds are. Not sure if you know that I am working on the green tea quilt. I asked my bee mates for blocks inspired by that quilt. I'm making my own version. So fun : )

  17. Do you usually do all your prep work first, and then do all your stitching at once?? I have thought about doing this, but am always impatient to get to the sewing part.

I have been working on a red and green quilt for some time and am looking forward to a quilt with lots of colour next.
