Well here it is my finished Flower Pots quilt by Kim McLean. This top was finished about 4 years ago and was my first, and almost only, use of Kaffe Fasset fabrics. I am very happy with it overall and while the quilting is not perfect, it is indeed finished.
A few close ups to give a better idea of the quilting.
While trying to figure out when I had finished this top, I scanned through old blog posts and that got me to thinking about my blogging. First and most important I blog to keep some sort of diary of my quilting progress and it is mostly for this reason that I continue. I love the fact that through your comments and my reading other blogs I feel I have entered into a world of friends which is a bonus I truly could not have imagined when I began. But sadly I am not reading blogs as often as I used to and rarely comment as lately so many of my comments get bounced back. Something to do with my aol email account not wanting to play nicely with Yahoo accounts and other stuff I don't quite understand. You might even be wondering why I am mentioning all this but mostly I wanted to alert people that I am not ignoring their blogs but finding the commenting situation just so frustrating. And some of you who comment on my blog, the comments are sometimes not being sent to my email so I can't respond. Anyway please know that I do appreciate all my readers and followers whether you comment or not. And like many of you I am also spending more time on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest but I am not quite ready to give up my blog, I really need this diary. So what are your thoughts, are you still blogging, reading blogs much or have you moved to other types of social media?
I still like to look at blogs especially to see the progress on the making of their quilts. It's wonderful to see the finished ones. It inspires me to keep going when I'm losing interest on the one I'm making.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cheerful quilt. It makes me want to go search out the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI don't blog as often as I think about it but like to be able to look back and see what was happening with my quilts (and other thing so). Since I read blogs through a reader I don't always pop out to comment.
Your quilt is just Stunning!!!! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the beautiful finish! Blogging is still my preferred form of social media for my quilting/crafting. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with everything though which saddens me and I tend to comment less than I used to. I have the problem of not all the comments showing up in my email also.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy blogging because I like the community, and it is a type of journal for me. But I don't post nearly as often as I used to. And I get frustrated when many of my regular comments don't get delivered to my inbox. I always love seeing what you're up to, so I hope you don't go away. And that quilt is beautiful! I don't tend to use anything that bright, but it really is striking.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is lovely--so happy and cheerful. Congratulations on your finish. I blog intermittently, and more as a record for me since my memory isn't all it should be anymore.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a very pretty finish!
ReplyDeleteI still prefer blogs. They are time consuming to update and to follow, but they communicate so much more thoroughly and inspire so much more . I find instagram a bit frustrating as you see only a snippet and not the method or thinking of the quilter.
Great quilt. I have so many in my 'to finish' list. If you can do it, so must I! I do other media too but my blog is a record for me. It's nice that others read it but it is my record as my memory fails me.......
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, your quilt is lovely! I love reading blogs - although I don't blog myself and don't always comment, it is so interesting and inspiring to see what others are doing. Celia
ReplyDeleteA really beautiful quilt, as if you caught summer and sunshine in it.
ReplyDeleteBoth blogs and FB are very inspiring. But blogs stay to search easily on a topic and FB posts disappears after some time. Time is always a problem, and Yahoo is weird.
No please, don't give up blogging! You've been such an inspiration to me over the past few years and I would thoroughly miss seeing what you are working on. Your Flower Pots turned out stunning.
ReplyDeleteI read blogs every day and love to follow the quilter's progress. And that they are willing to share their process.
ReplyDeleteVery inspiring!
And I also still have my blog, but we are moving house and have been very busy selling our current home.
It is very handy as a record of what happened when, which fabrics I used (I tend to borrow from other projects), but also to share what I'm doing. Quilting can be a bit lonely sometimes. But not with other Bloggers and quilting friends around the world.
Ooops, forgot to say how lovely your finished quilt is!
ReplyDeleteSorry!
Congratulations on your beautiful finish. I like to read and write blog posts, it's a connection with crafty friends that I don't get in my day to day life........and a source of so much inspiration.
ReplyDeleteDear Heather,
ReplyDeletewonderful quilt finish, congratulations to this beauty.
Please continue with your blog, I will continue readieng and commenting your wonderful posts. I love blogging.
Greetings,
Sylvia
Your quilt and quilting is beautiful. I am relatively new to blogging and since starting Canadian Needle Nana over a year ago I have discovered just how much alike we stitchers are wherever we live in this world. I seem to have twins everywhere! By sharing my ups and downs, my bits of stitching, imperfect as it may be, makes me feel part of a wonderful womanhood. And I have so much to learn, so please bloggers, stay.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so beautiful and the quilting is gorgeous! I have the same problem on my blog--yahoo really doesn't play well with google is my take. I wish they'd get their act together. I've tried every which way--but a lot of my comments (but strangely not all) don't get sent to email either....well, enought that I enjoy your blog and your works....hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt. I have a Kim McLean pattern I want to applique someday. After seeing your quilt, I've definitely decided I'm using Kaffe fabrics! Your Antique Wedding quilt is so lovely, of course though, blues are my favorite colors. I'm even thinking about starting that quilt!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog, I don't do the other social media's. There is only so much time. Yes, it does take time to post but I think we all understand that sometimes we just get busy.
Wonderful Quilt! I have a few friends who have and are making that one! We have a group of Kaffe lovers here in Des Moines and we see lots of it used in traditional applique quilts as well as Kim McClean's patterns. One of my friends even did a Civil War Bride quilt in Kaffe!! Me? I'm still stuck in the Civil War Era! Haha! I too love to read blogs but have lost the time it takes to keep up and comment. I'll do posts when I have a new technique to show, but am spending more time on FB and a little bit on Instagram. Pintrest is just lost for me...I only have the basics there. I wish there was an app that would post to all 4 at the same time for me! One post and done! Wouldn't that be nice?!
ReplyDeleteLike you I started blogging to have a record of my quilts but find I am losing interest in posting and commenting. I do still read blogs occasionally, mostly those of friends I have made through my blog.
ReplyDeleteSo many have moved to Facebook of which I am not a big fan.
Now I spend most of my free time in the sewing room instead of on the computer.
I forgot the most important part of my comment...Your Flower Pots is just beautiful the quilting is perfect.
ReplyDeleteMine is still a work in progress.
I prefer blogs because there is so much more information than on FB or the others. Plus, I find blogs so user friendly compared to FB but that is just me. Your quilt came out beautifully. You do such gorgeous applique. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour Flower Pot quilt is the queen of the garden. It's beautiful and now it's done. I still love to blog and to read blogs. I don't hang out as much on Pinterest, or Facebook and I'm not into Instagram. Like many, I blog to journal and share my quilting journey and other events. I love the thought of making new friends around the world, receiving encouraging feedback, and being inspired by what others are doing. Yes, writing posts or making comments does take time, but it's definitely a more in depth connection to talented quilter's who take the time to share their thoughts and creativity. I hope you continue to share.
ReplyDeleteI think your Flower Pot quilt looks so fresh and cheerful. I like quilting with a variety of designs in the background. I think it is fast and easy and adds so much visual interest.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to have this online community of quilt makers who encourage, inspire and support each other. I enjoy blogging and find that it is an important part of my day. Blogging inspires me to create and helps to keep me on track. Like you I find that finding the time to read and comment on the many blogs that I follow is a challenge but I do my best to comment but sometimes I just can't find the time. Today is a day when I will spend a little time trying to play catch-up!
Absolutely love this quilt.
ReplyDeleteYes, still blogging. My blog is my online quilt journal. I can look up when i finished or started a quilt, or how long it has been since i worked on it, and i love that. I have it printed into a hard cover book each year on blog2print.
I don't get on here as much as I used to, but sometimes a girl sits for an hour and gets her quilt fix, and it gets her into the mood to sew sew sew.
I love to share because I am so inspired by others, how lovely to think i might inspire others too.
Life is meant for living, let's not beat ourselves up. :) Just enjoy blogging when we can.
Your quilt is stunning! I am on IG, the speed and ease of which is easy now that I am busy.i keep my blog too, as a diary and a more in depth way of contact...don't disappear as I would miss you!
ReplyDeleteBlogging is still important to me. I do participate in Facebook quilt groups but do not find the same connection to people as with my blog. I do not have a phone that allows me to connect to Instagram but what I have seen, it does not give much info as to what the photos are about. I prefer to know more.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. I prefer blogs because I like to read the story along with seeing the action :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I absolutely love your quilt! So beautiful :-)
ReplyDeleteAbout blogging, I love it, I also think of my blog as a diary, and not just about stitching.
I had the first 3 years printed (so behind!) and now I sometimes look through them
to remind myself what I was up to :-)
But along the way I found so many new friends, and that is what makes blogging worth doing.
I like Pinterest and use it a lot, I find it so convenient to pin things I come across on the internet, which I would just forget otherwise; just like my kitchen pin board!
Take care,
xx
Congratulations Heather on a beautiful finish, you have done a superb job on the quilting. I love to blog (although I've been a bit slack lately) and read other blogs for inspiration and to learn about fabrics, techniques, available designs and to get an insight into other people's lives around the world and close to home. I also love Pinterest but I am probably one of the last people on the planet not to have Facebook. Keep on blogging.
ReplyDeleteThe commenting this can be quite frustrating. I'm always finding comments on my blog that don't get to my email where I answer or block me from finding a way to answer. I read quilt blogs every day--enjoy them so very much, but find it difficult at times to find the time to comment like I used to. I still haven't joined up with Instagram and Facebook because I want to limit my social media. Blogs are my preferred method of sharing at the moment! Thanks for sharing all your wonderful projects with us!
ReplyDeleteyour quilt is so fresh and beautiful. The quilting is so well done - add a lot of texture and interest to an already fabulous quilt.
ReplyDeleteI'm still blogging and reading blogs but I have noticed a big drop off. I'm also on other social media - seems we've just spread out a lot.
I discovered your weblog website on google and test a couple of of your early posts. Continue to keep up the excellent operate. I simply additional up your RSS feed to my MSN News Reader. Seeking ahead to studying extra from you later on!… casino slots
