We've Moved

I see it has been over a month since I posted about our house sale and move. It has been a very busy 6 weeks but we are finally into our new home. We are excited to be just 5 minutes from the grandchildren and are happy with our decision to downsize into a "forever" home. If you have been following my blog for awhile you might remember that we have moved several times over the last few years and after this one I truly pray that I never have to do this again. If you have ever downsized, you know it is pretty tricky deciding what to let go of, what to keep and how to fit it all in. We are fortunate to have a basement to put the overflow in right now but hopefully the basement will be finished in the next year into a great sewing studio. In the meantime I am dealing with this mess.

This is an upstairs bonus room with an additional weird finished closet like area.

Right now DH is starting the huge job of shifting things around to make some sense of it all and because of my back I can only give directions. So it looks like a few more weeks until I will be back into sewing mode. We have only been here just over 2 weeks and the main floor is coming together. DH has already painted both the diningroom and kitchen and hung pictures etc. our boxes were not well marked by the movers so we still have lots of things to find but it is so nice to make things feel like home again.

I can't wait to get stitching again but almost dread sorting through the boxes as I unpack. Let's just say the movers were not careful - they forgot to shrink wrap some of those wire basket units and tipped one into a flower bed. And that was the one with all my LE fabrics! I could go on and on with moving horror stories but I think it is time to focus on the positive and get my sewing room in order!

Happy Stitching!

  11. Moving is SO not fun but your new home looks charming. Love the blue in the dining room. We did not move but did downsize and got rid of tons of things a couple years back. We were inspired after moving my parent into assisted living. Down sizing and letting those things go was actually freeing in a way and made life simpler.

  12. That is a fun shaped sewing space. I know it must be frustrating to not be able to move like you used too--but hopefully you will get things in there organized soon!! Life moves at a different pace than we want sometimes, but it will all fall into place. I hope the grands will be able to visit often. How much fun to have them so close.

  19. I think I'd rather stay upstairs-it looks like such a great, bright room. Don't make a final decision until you've worked there for a while.
Those other rooms look like showcases! Your DH is doing an awesome job.
Good luck with the new home and have fun with your grandkids!
