William Morris borders

Well I survived the days taking care of my little grandson but man it was exhausting! Yesterday I was only able to do a little laundry and some hand appliqué but today I was able to spend a whole day back in the studio prepping the borders for my William Morris quilt. Since I usually do hand appliqué, I am constantly amazed at the speed of this process in comparison. But make no mistake, this type of machine appliqué is still pretty time consuming. I spent 8 hours today just tracing, cutting and arranging all four sides of this border. Here is the first side all ironed down - hopefully stitching will begin tomorrow as my personal deadline is this weekend as my new BOM and Quilt along begins and I really don't need more UFOs!

Happy stitching!

  2. The colors are beautiful. Iprobably do equal amounts of machine and hand appliqué. It is nice to change it up once in a while, but I agree, machine work can take a lot more time than you think..
